Pocomoke City

We based Sylken Sea in Pocomoke City, MD during the summer and early fall.  We really enjoyed the hospitality of Ray & Bonnie, Arthur & Eloise.

Can't forget Jim, Joe, Glen & Herb as well as Otis the bridge tender.  Thanks all for looking out for us!

Feeling a Little Lost

Whew!  A new day, very interesting but also somewhat stressfull, the Bros are gone, we are on our own, through Norfolk, getting late, looking for a safe haven and Sammy says, "Why not right over there, the chart shows 12' of water".  So with the very favorable weather we pull off the channel off of Hampton VA and drop the hook, awesome.  The moon rises shortly after.  We are getting used to trusting our ground tackle and anchor in open places we would have never considered in GB.

The folks that own this boat have a really big dance floor.

Made It! Arrive at AYB.

Here we are, tied up to the dock at Atlantic Yacht Basin, VA.  Our crew depart in the am, thanks Dave & Bill it was great having you both along!

We now leave Sylken Sea for a few weeks, then we will head on to the Chesapeake and Pocomoke City.

Mill Lock

A lock!  Just like "home".  Great Dismal Swamp Route.

Great Dismal Swamp

Originally a military supply route dating back to the American Revolution, today, a recreational route.  After the big cold front went through we had a clear calm morning.  Heading for AYB, it will be a tight schedule to get to Great Bridge before the last opening of the day.

Elizabeth City, VA

After a diversion to miss a nasty squall (we got lucky) we found a dock in Elizabeth City, stayed the night secure as the lightning flashed all around.  In the am we head upstream on the Dismal Swamp route.

Dolphins in the Bow Wake

They are playful and curious, we see them often but they never cease to amaze us, beautiful creatures.

Nice Tug!

What can I say, I like work boats and this was one nice Tug!

Along the ICW

Heading north from Wrightsville Beach along the ICW.
