Approaching Fernandina Beach, FL

The sun rises following our second night at sea off the approaches to St. Mary's Inlet.

Beautiful Thing

It's a beautiful thing when the weather cooperates and the forecast is true. Here we are about 40 nm off the coast of SC. 1650 RPM, 7.4 kts, 2 gph. Heading 232 M, wind 060 @ 4-6 kts, seas 2'.

Gotta love that autopilot!

On Our Way South

This morning we were up early, left the Galley Stores Marina in New Bern, NC at 4:30 am. By 10:00 am we were heading out off shore. If the weather holds we should make Fernandina Beach by Sunday.

Splash and Go

We were launched on Wednesday and departed Wayfarer's this morning. Since I need to do a quick trip to CA next week we decided to finally visit New Bern. This evening finds us on the hook at Goose Creek, just outside of New Bern. It's a really beautiful spot with 9-10' of water.

Getting Ready to Cruise

Well, after nearly 5 months away from Sylken Sea, we spent the last week on board while on the hard at Wayfarers Cove in NC. The yard is nearly done with the bottom paint. We worked on anchors, engine, genny impellers, changed Racors, polished stainless and such. We're back home now until the end of October. We hope to be ready to cruise south by Nov. 1st.
While at Wayfarers we met John & Barbara on a KK42 that they are working on and Ron and Judy from Saltspring Island on a 38' sailboat named "Pioneer". We enjoyed getting together and socializing once again with some like minded boaters.
Talked to Steve &Theresa on Sea Quill, they were at Moorehead City, not too far from here, heading south and planning on staying in Fort Pierce with Sequel.
Here at home it is windy, wet and chilly, time to get outta here!

Been Gone Too Long

Hi all, Sylken Sea is still on the hard at Wayfarer's Cove, Arapahoe, NC. Sammy (Sylvianne) is in Qatar with the grandkids. This week I am fishing the Bulkley River in BC. Dry fly steelhead, yeah! See you at the rendezvous in a few weeks.

Back Home

Greetings all, boat is parked in NC. We are home for a bit, doing business, connecting with friends and family, attending weddings.
Mark and Emily from "Grand Adventure" stopped by in their new land yacht, pretty cool and very roomy.
Cheers and safe travels Mark and Emily.
